India Procurement Portal

Public procurement in India is a cornerstone of governmental operations and a significant driver of economic growth, accounting for approximately 30% of the nation's GDP.

The procurement landscape is vast and complex, with annual transactions exceeding INR 20 lakh crore and over 100,000 tenders issued annually. This extensive activity is managed across various levels of government, reflecting India's federal structure and decentralized administrative framework.

In recent years, India has embarked on a transformative journey to digitize its procurement processes, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accessibility. A pivotal development in this endeavor is the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), launched to streamline the procurement of common-use goods and services. GeM has become a vital platform for central and state government entities, promoting fair play and competition among suppliers.

This integration signifies a substantial shift towards digital governance, ensuring that procurement activities are conducted with greater accountability and reduced administrative overhead.

In response to this need, the India Procurement Knowledge Portal has been conceptualized as a comprehensive resource. Developed and hosted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) with support from the World Bank Group,

  • Centralize Regulatory Frameworks: Providing access to procurement regulations at both central and state levels.
  • Offer Operational Data and Analytics: Delivering insights into procurement trends and performance metrics.
  • Serve as a Resource Center: Catering to practitioners, academicians, researchers, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate Knowledge Exchange: Enabling professionals to share experiences, discuss challenges, and collaboratively develop solutions.

The India Procurement Knowledge Portal aspires to bridge existing gaps by fostering a more cohesive and informed procurement community, ultimately contributing to more effective and transparent public procurement practices in India.
