Programme Overview

India’s sports ecosystem is rapidly evolving — driven by professional leagues, sports-tech startups, digital fan engagement, sponsorship expansion, and structured sports infrastructure development.

Addressing this emerging talent gap, the All India Management Association (AIMA) — India’s apex body for management education — has partnered with COLLEARN Education Technologies to offer specialised Post Graduate Certificate in Sports Management.

This collaboration combines AIMA’s academic leadership with Collearn’s deep domain expertise to deliver AICTE-approved and industry-recognised programmes that are aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP). The programme is structured, flexible, and outcome-oriented — blending academic rigour with work integrated practical insights, contemporary case studies, and on the job training.

The PGCM – Sports Management is designed to build future-ready professionals who understand both:

  • The business of sports
  • The operations of sports ecosystems
  • The analytics and innovation driving modern sports management

This programme integrates foundational business management with applied sports exposure including governance, IP development, event execution, analytics, and athlete lifecycle management.

The programme aims to:

  • Develop Industry-Ready Sports Professionals
    Build practical capabilities across sports management, arena operations, sponsorship, analytics, governance, and finance.
  • Bridge Education with Real-World Sports Exposure
    Enable learners to apply classroom concepts to live sports ecosystems — including leagues, clubs, academies, and infrastructure models.
  • Build Operational Excellence in Sports Infrastructure
    Train students in arena operations, match-day management, compliance, safety norms, revenue models (ticketing, hospitality, F&B), and vendor coordination.
  • Enable Strategic Thinking & Innovation
    Develop competencies in Sports IP creation & monetization, Brand building, League structuring, Fan experience design, Commercial rights management.
  • Develop Data-Driven Decision Makers
    Equip learners with skills in: Player performance analytics, Fan & commercial analytics, Dashboarding tools (Excel/Power BI/Tableau concepts), ROI measurement for sponsorships.
  • Strengthen Governance & Compliance Awareness
    Build understanding of: Sports law & dispute resolution, Anti-doping regulations, Contract law basics, League governance models, Ethical frameworks in sports.
  • Provide Structured Career Launch Pathways
    Support learners in transitioning into roles across:

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university with Strong interest in sports and management
  • Graduate students pursuing other professional course like MBA, MFS, CA, CS, ICWA etc. can pursue the PGCM programme concurrently and seek lateral entry.

Program Duration:

The duration of the programme is One Year (Two Semesters). Maximum duration to complete the programme is Two and half years (30 Months).

Class Schedule/Pedagogy:

  • 156 hours of live online classes (78 classes – 2 hours each).
  • The on-the-job training includes 6 classes per week, conducted from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
  • One year access to Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Learners can revisit and revise LIVE session through access to session recordings and detailed meeting notes available on the LMS.

Project Work / on the Job Training

This structured training is designed to provide practical, industry-focused learning with real-time project exposure, ensuring hands-on experience and skill development in a professional work environment.

On-the-Job Training (OTJ) Covers:

  • Event Management – 2.5 months
  • Arena Management – 2.5 months
  • Infrastructure Management – 2 months
  • IP Development – 2 months
  • OTJ Schedule – 6 days a week
  • Timings – 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Locations – Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai & Mysore

Assessment & Evaluation Process

Students will be evaluated through assignments, live projects, internship performance, event participation, attendance, and professional conduct. Assessment will focus on practical skills, teamwork, communication, leadership, and overall industry readiness. Final evaluation will be based on overall performance throughout the program.

The assessment process is divided into 2 levels.

  • Assignments (Two (2) Online Objective Multiple Choice Assignments per subject): 30% Weightage
  • Term End Examinations of 3 hours for each subject: 70% Weightage
