Introduction

World over, public procurement is recognised as a strategic tool for achieving developmental, social and environmental objectives of governments. In India it is not only used for smooth operations of government agencies and departments but also utilised as a tool for promoting and sustaining economic growth. In order to achieve the broad objectives targeted through huge government expenditure on procurement, it is necessary to monitor the effectiveness of the procurement process. In procurement, contracts are of paramount importance as they establish framework for procurement process, outlining the rights and obligations of each party, the scope of work and other key aspects. Contracts in procurement help ensure transparency, fairness and efficiency in the procurement process, while also mitigating risks and providing a mechanism for dispute resolution.

All India Management Association (AIMA) with technical support of World Bank is offering this Procurement and Contracts Management Specialization to enhance skilling and knowledge of professionals engaged in procurement and contract at state and district levels.
